Gary Hamel is one of the world’s most influential business thinkers. He has worked with leading companies across the globe and is the director of the Management Innovation eXchange.
Here, I worked his insights into a best-performing piece for a global business audience.
Microsoft Business Case
When Satya Nadella took over as CEO of Microsoft in 2014, he inherited a firm fading toward irrelevance, plagued by internal fights and inertia. His wife, Anu, gave him a best-selling book by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. He adapted the idea to encourage employees to shift from Microsoft’s historical “know-it-all” culture to embrace a “learn-it-all” curiosity.
Award-winning Professor Herminia Ibarra, Assistant Professor Aneeta Rattan and I collaborated to bring a case study to business classrooms worldwide tracing Nadella’s culture-change effort.
Amber is a tech pioneer who makes change happen. As the founding director of Voxd Consulting, she asked me to help her position her website and content in a competitive market. As a rare master of digital, operations and communications, I quickly discovered she loathed all talk and no action – the rest is history.
With an eye on future consumer, content and behavioural trends, I present at conferences around the world. Storytelling. Quirks of the mind. Engagement. You name it. I’ve been lucky enough to access some of the world’s brightest minds. My job is simple: I curate and tailor insights to audiences everywhere.
